Polina Limye is a multimedia artist, director, and interdisciplinary thinker whose work bridges storytelling, psychology, science, and technology. Educated within the Waldorf system, she developed a holistic worldview that informs her diverse artistic and intellectual pursuits. Inspired by quantum physics, Arnold Mindell’s process-oriented psychology, and Alan Watts’ teachings, Polina’s work reflects the unity of disciplines, from art and science to sound design and multi-instrumentalism. Her multidisciplinary approach has earned her recognition as a modern renaissance figure.
With over 15 years of experience as a director of multimedia programs, Polina has established herself as a leading voice in the creative industry. She has spoken at conferences such as OFFF and Digital Design Days, presenting her work as a video artist, director, and producer. These experiences highlight her ability to articulate complex ideas and foster dialogue across creative and scientific communities.
Central to Polina’s work is TRAIL, an innovative project that explores the intersection of sound, movement, and form. In a given space, a dancer in a motion capture suit performs to music. Data from the dancer’s movements, combined with a 3D scan of the space, generates a trajectory mapping their path. This trajectory becomes the blueprint for a physical sculpture constructed within the same space.
The sculpture’s characteristics are determined by the captured data: its length and direction follow the dancer’s movements, the height is informed by motion capture sensors, and the size is influenced by the music’s sound frequencies. Crafted from recycled materials, these sculptures transform ephemeral experiences into tangible forms, encouraging reflection on the relationship between sound, movement, and space.
Polina’s artistic vision is deeply shaped by her passion for physics and the scientific method. Her work explores advanced concepts, including the Event Horizon, Higgs Boson, superposition, dark matter, quantum entanglement, and the double-slit experiment. She is equally fascinated by paradoxes such as the Fermi Paradox and the Omnipotence Paradox, which challenge humanity’s understanding of existence and the universe. These themes infuse her work with a sense of curiosity and interconnectedness.
Polina is the creator of The Great Research, a self-inquiry process using visual thinking and mind mapping to uncover the hidden connections in life’s mysteries. As a mentor and collaborator, she thrives in interdisciplinary environments where science and art converge. Her ability to bridge disciplines and foster creative dialogue reflects a commitment to sustainability, social inquiry, and interdisciplinary exploration.
For Polina Limye, art is a trail connecting the tangible to the intangible, offering profound insights into the mysteries of existence.
